Find the
slope of the line passing through two points by using the slope formula.
Experiment with other numbers.
Remember that
you can change the numbers only on the lines with the
squares.
Find the equation
of a line which passes through two points by using the point slope form as
shown on the left with the MathView notebook.
Example problem: The costs at a company are $4 million when 200 items
are sold and are $6.4 million when 500 items are sold.
Assume the function is linear, find the equation of the Cost
function.
What is the cost of producing 1000 items?
Hint: Let x1 = 200.
Use your calculator to substitute or drag the graph so that x = 1000
is in the window. Then approximate the value of y in $millions.
